Alice,
Indeed, yes, the LIBER Groupe des Cartothecaires is alive and well, with over 270 members on its current membership list. We recently (i.e. the beginning of September) had a very stimulating conference in Paris, courtesy of our colleagues at the Bibliotheque nationale de France and arrangements are already in place for the 2008 conference in Amsterdam. Our president is Helene Richard of the BNF and I am the secretary. One major problem we have is that the web-site is presently hosted by the Koninklijke Bibliotheek in the Netherlands and relies very much on the work and invaluable support of our former secretary and President, Jan Smits, one of the great unsung heroes of map librarianship. The web-site has been recently updated at:
http://liber-maps.kb.nl/intro.htm
but it does rely on volunteers having spare time to be able to post information.
Any enquiries can always be addressed to the undersigned at any time.
I hope that this helps you,
All good wishes,
John Moore
