Colleagues,

The Biological Systems Simulation Group (BSSG) will sponsor its 41st
Conference from April 19 to April 21, 2011 in Austin, Texas, USA. The
BSSG has a long history of sponsoring conferences on systems analysis
and crop modeling, ranging from gene-based and cellular models to
landscape and regional models. The BSSG facilitates an informal exchange
of information through oral and poster presentations and hands-on
computer demonstrations.

This year's venue is the Texas Advanced Computing Center, home to the
world's sixth largest computer and the first largest that is dedicated
to open science. Several of the proposed sessions align with this unique
choice of location:

* Numerically intensive modeling activities - parameter
estimation, sensitivity analysis, regional GIS, etc.
* Efforts involving multiple models - links to economics, crop
rotations, hydrology, etc.
* Next generation modeling approaches, topics, data management,
tools, and software engineering.

Two additional topics are also of relevance to a state important to the
energy economy and that has diverse cropping regions, some of which are
water limited.

* Modeling crop water use - how accurate is the state of the art?
*       Modeling bio-energy crops.

However, all submissions relevant to biological systems simulation are
welcome and can address plant, animal, soil, atmospheric, economic,
social and other processes as they relate to agricultural and natural
systems performance and environmental conservation and improvement.
Summaries (1-2 pages) must be submitted in electronic format. The
deadline for summary submissions is March 18, 2011. Please check our web
site www.BioSysSim.org for program updates.

Steve notes that for accommodations, they strongly recommend the Hampton
Inn. Contact Raj Jordan at 512-475-9411 for hotel reservations by April
4. A credit card is needed to hold rooms at the Conference rate of
$104/night. This includes free breakfast and shuttle service from the
Hampton Inn (only) to/from the banquet and meeting site.

Best regards,

Jeff White
