You might need to clarify exactly what you mean when you ask if anyone has
studied the economics of crop models at the farm level.

The value of a model may, for example, lie in its ability to demonstrate the
actual or potential value of a new management strategy, crop cultivar, or
technology (e.g. use of seasonal forecasts - refer below) over existing
practices - i.e. determine the marginal value of the new relative to current
practices. This can be done at the farm or regional level.

A model may be specific to a particular task or problem, in which case it
might have a lower value than a model which can be used to address a range
of tasks, management or technological opportunities or problems.

growing. Australian Journal of Agricultural Economics, 40, 211–233, 1996.

climate forecasting systems in managing cropping systems. In Applications of
seasonal climate forecasting in agricultural and natural ecosystems, edited

Dear all,

I am looking for papers (article or conference proceeding) discussing
economical benefits of crop model's use for farming system.

I want to know if anyone had study the economics of crop models at the farm
level.

Thanks for your help.
Apologies for cross listing.

Eric
