POSITION DESCRIPTION

A Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in: Universidad Tecnica de
Machala MACHALA ECUADOR

Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to develop a
research program addressing systems agronomy in Ecuador. Examples of
research areas include ecological approaches to improving farming system
resilience through conservation agriculture, and complementary
combinations of plants, animals, water, and soil organisms that support
crop production and quality, as well as sustainability. This could
include strategic and adaptive research on agronomy of cereal and legume
crops, or addressing constraints to soil productivity in
agro-ecosystems. Leadership will be expected in designing, testing and
dissemination of integrated crop and soil management options relevant to
smallholder farmers. Areas of expertise might include systems analysis,
participatory action research, or developing analytical tools and
practices supporting ecological intensification.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in agronomy,
soil science, agricultural ecology or a related field, and show evidence
of excellence in research and agricultural development. Experience in
tropical agroecosystems. The candidate is expected to have oral and
written communication skills in English (a little Spanish) as well as
analytical expertise.
