Dear Colleague,
I would like to make you aware of a training opportunity for
early-to-mid-career scientists. The International Research Institute
for Climate Prediction and START (the global change SysTem for Analysis,
Research and Training) are pleased to announce the Advanced Training
Institute on Climatic Variability and Food Security to be held at the
IRI facility in Palisades, New York, 8-26 July 2002.
The Institute's objective is to equip young agriculture and food
security professionals from developing countries to apply advances in
climate prediction to their home institutions' ongoing efforts to
address climate-sensitive aspects of agricultural production. The
Institute comprises three components: an intensive three-week training
workshop, follow-up research, and a final workshop. A unique feature of
the Institute is a seed grant program that will allow trainees to
compete for funds to apply new concepts and methods to follow-up
research projects.
Information about the Institute, including a detailed announcement with
application instructions and forms, is accessible at the following Web
address:
http://iri.columbia.edu/outreach/meeting/ATI2002/index.html.
I am grateful if you would forward the enclosed materials to qualified
potential applicants. Please direct any questions to the Advanced
Training Institute Coordinator, Mark Graham, via e-mail
([log in to unmask]) or phone (+1-845-680-4516).
Apologies for cross-posting.
Regards,
--
