Programmer (Modelling)
 
The SA Sugar Association Experiment Station, based at Mount Edgecombe,
South Africa, invites applications for the position of Programmer (Modelling),
 in the Agronomy department. Our primary goal is the development  of high
sucrose yielding, pest and disease resistant sugarcane varieties suited to
the various bioclimatic regions of the Industry. Agronomy combines
field and systems research to optimize the agronomic management of these
varieties.
 
You will work with a team of crop scientists and modellers applying simulation
 models and developing user-friendly, PC and Web-based, decision support
systems to assist the industry with agronomic optimization. (For more details

Applicants should have at least a B.Sc (Computer Science) or B. Tech (IT),
with experience in the development of end-user applications and scientific
programming.  Some exposure to the mathematical/ biological sciences will be
an advantage.
 
Salary is competitive with benefits that include annual bonus, medical
aid and retirement fund schemes.
