Subject: The U.S. Geologic Map Symbol Standard!
DMTers -
I am very pleased to report that the FGDC Standard for Geologic Map
Symbolization recently was endorsed by the FGDC as a Federal
standard, and has been assigned the number FGDC-STD-013-2006.
Taryn Lindquist and I are now preparing the standard for:
1) printing;
2) Web access;
3) implementation in Postscript format (to be released as a USGS
publication); and
4) implementation in ArcGIS format (through collaboration with ESRI).
Your patience, cooperation, and support in this lengthy endeavor are
much appreciated. I will keep you informed of progress regarding the
publication of this standard, and I sincerely hope that it will
address your needs and those of your organization.
With profound relief,
Dave
