The South African Sugar Association Experiment Station invites
applications for the position of Head of Agronomy and Crop Modelling
Department. This senior position requires a self-motivated person who is
prepared to lead other scientists in systems thinking.
 
The successful candidate will be required to manage the agronomy and
crop modelling research programme whose aim is to provide advice and
technology that will help optimise the use of resources for sugarcane
production. This will include the development of the CANEGRO model as a
research tool and its application to solving industry problems. The
incumbent should be familiar with systems optimisation techniques.
 
Applicants should have at least a PhD, and have a proven track record in
crop science and systems modelling. Good communication skills will be
required.
 
The remuneration package is competitive and includes a Car Allowance,
annual bonus, medical benefits and a retirement fund.
