Subject: Northern Ohio Map Soc meeting
NOMS (Northern Ohio Map Society) will meet Wednesday, August 2, 7:00
p.m.
at the Hines Hill Conference Center of the Cuyahoga Valley National
Recreation Area, situated midway between Cleveland and Akron.
Anthony Gareau, GIS Specialist for the Park, will discuss how GPS
(Global Positioning System) has changed the way the Park makes its maps.
After Anthony's talk, the group will adjourn (weather permitting) to the
grounds around the converted barn to actually see GPS equipment at work.
The meeting is free and open to anyone with an interest in maps &
mapping. Anyone who owns a GPS receiver is encouraged to bring it along.
We're hoping for a lively discussion on the relative merits of various
units.
