Hallo Nick
CERES-Maize will output a carbon.out file with some soil C values over time.
Look in the X file that below the CAOUT is a Y
                                                                !
@N OUTPUTS FNAME OVVEW SUMRY FROPT GROUT CAOUT WAOUT NIOUT MIOUT DIOUT
LONG CHOUT OPOUT
 1 OU N Y Y 3 Y Y Y Y N N
Y N N
                                                                !
Otherwise it will not generate a carbon.out file.

Hope this help.

Regards
Andre

Nick,
The output file Summary.out shows the values of Residue applied (RECM,
kg/ha), Organic soil N at maturity (ONAM, kg/ha), and Organic C at maturity
(OCAM, t/ha). I don't think there's any other output showing simulations of
soil C balance.
