Dear friends and colleagues (apologies for cross posting)
This is a reminder that there are just a few days left to register for
the Annual Workshop of the Map Curators Group (MCG) of the British
Cartographic Society : *The customer and the map curator, or, the
importance of being relevant*
A late booking fee of £50 applies for bookings made after 10 August
(delegates needing an invoice just need to submit their booking form by
Friday 10th August to be considered "early", we don't need the payment
by then). We are sorry that no bookings can be accepted after 17 August.
The speakers are working hard on their presentations for the
Workshopwhich will be held at the University of Leeds, England, on
Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th August 2012.
Thetheme is *The customer and the map curator, or, the importance of
being relevant*.

Coordinator, West Yorkshire Archives) - Taking history off the map

The annual Business Meeting of the Map Curators' Group will follow the
speakers (approx. 4pm).
The evening will finish with an optional group meal at a local
restaurant (for those who have booked, time tbc).
*Thursday 30 August Visits (approx. 10.00am-4pm)
*The /University of Leeds School of Earth and Environment/ will host our
morning visit which will include SEEs map library, GIS and 3D
visualisation suites. Clare Gordon (Teaching Fellow and Map Curator) and
Geoffrey E. Lloyd (Reader in Microgeodynamics) will give the
presentation Geological map making with students: combining the old with
the new. Come see maps at work!
/Marks & Spencer Company Archive/ Recently opened to the public for
the first time, the Archive contains materials from the 128 year history
of this British institution, including staff publications, photographs
and films, garments and household products, design and advertising
material. If youve ever bought anything in M&S, youll want to see this!
