Dear MAPS-Lers,
The programme for the ANZMAPS/MSIA joint conference to be
held at the National Library of Australia in Canberra, at the end of April, is
now online at
www.anzmaps.org/conferences
It is a packed and exciting programme, with speakers from
the US, Austria, Australia and NZ. There is a definite focus on military
mapping, which is appropriate in this centenary year of Gallipoli and of the
RASvyCorps (and the bicentenary of Waterloo!); but topics range from
contemporary cartographic education/training, to technology, early land and sea
exploration, mapping for boardgames, and collection digitisation, so there’s
something for everyone.
Registration is now also open at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/the-power-of-maps-national-library-of-australia-tickets-15289514349
The Friday bus tour is ‘free’ for attendees, but please note
that separate tickets need to be ordered to help us plan transport/catering.
Spouses are welcome to buy tickets to the conference and social events, and are
also welcome on the bus tour (but again, the free tickets must be booked!)
See you in April!
Brendan
