As the deadline for ICE Grant proposals approaches in less than one month, please consider
applying and encouraging your peers and colleagues to apply as well. ICE will continue to offer
info sessions in the weeks leading up to the deadline. Keep an eye on this listserv or check the ICE
Web site <http://ice.uga.edu> for updates.

The ICE site and ICE Forum <https://art.uga.edu/ice_forum/> are excellent resources to see what
kind of projects we have supported in the past, to check out projects at similar arts research
programs in the U.S. and abroad, and to find external funding opportunities.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, for help brainstorming or finding potential
collaborators, or to look over your proposal before you submit it. The info sessions have been very
productive so far, but if you cannot attend I would be happy to meet with you privately, by
appointment.

Sincerely,

Mark Callahan

Ideas for Creative Exploration (ICE) seeks proposals for grants to be initiated during the 2007-
2008 academic year. Proposals will be considered in three categories: project grants ($500-
$5,000), seed grants for project development (up to $2,500), and assistance with external grant
proposal development (up to $2,500).

Selected proposals may receive funding, technical and creative support, and assistance with the
presentation of completed projects. Proposals should be consistent with the ICE mission:

ICE is a catalyst for innovative, interdisciplinary creative projects, advanced research and critical
discourse in the arts, and for creative applications of technologies, concepts, and practices found
across disciplines. It is a collaborative network of faculty, students, and community members from
all disciplines of the visual and performing arts in addition to other disciplines in the humanities
and sciences. ICE enables all stages of creative activity, from concept and team formation through
production, documentation, and dissemination of research.

Eligibility

Lead applicant must be a full-time faculty member or a full-time student at the University of
Georgia. ICE encourages collaborative proposals that include faculty and students from more than
one discipline or academic department and/or professionals from outside the University of
Georgia.

Resources

ICE funds can be used for equipment, supplies, travel, and honoraria. ICE will lend assistance in
seeking appropriate venues for exhibitions and performances to give successful projects regional,
national, and international exposure. Web-based projects can be hosted by ICE.

Deadline

Completed proposals must be received by 12:00 PM on Friday, February 15, 2008.

Award Criteria

1. Intellectual and artistic merit
2. Degree of innovation
3. Extent of collaborative and interdisciplinary activity
4. Feasibility under sponsorship of ICE
5. Potential for future funding and development (especially for assistance with proposal
development)
