4. CORE Concert Dance Company Spring Collection 2008
Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 27-March 1, 2008

Tickets can be purchased at the Tate Student Center cashier's window M-F 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

CORE's Spring Collection will feature dance, interactive music, film and aerial arts. Former Cirque
du Soleil performer and guest choreographer Elsie Smith joins Bala Sarasvati in the recreation of
Stolen Generation (2003), '' a breathtaking and mystical collaboration between modern dance floor
movement and aerial performance on flowing lengths of fabric” (Mollisa Link, ABH Correspondent,
March, 2003). Smith and Sarasvati will also premiere Apogee/Perigee, an integration of dance with
aerial slings and harnesses that depicts magnetic fields inspired by lunar orbits. Adapted from an
original essay written by Candace Feck, Associate Professor, The Ohio State University, NO/ON is a
multimedia work responding to and about the troubling overuse of the word “on” in dance
discourse. NO /ON premiered at the International Symposium on Dance Research held at the
Centre National de la danse, Paris in June 2007. Leonard V. Ball, Jr., director of the Roger and
Phyllis Dancz Center for New Music, Aaron Carter, Allyson McIntyre and Thomas West join CORE
members with an interactive sound installation in Text Message Fate (Premiere). Guest artist Mario
Chacón Arias, member of the Chamber's Company of Danza of Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica
will perform two solos in the concert. CORE will also perform The Call (2002), The Way She Moves
(2007), Coeur de CORE (2006) and The Secret (Premiere).
