Subject: Re: A New Generation of USGS Maps
Dear Maps-L,
I haven't read all the help guides and documentation, so this issue is
probably addressed, but when I downloaded a sample quad (which said
Beta) as well as the most recent paper edition (also downloadable,
although I could have pulled it from a drawer) these are hardly
comparable. The Beta e-map is a orthophotomap with pretty skimpy overlay
info compared to the lithographed version (far fewer place names ...
e.g. a rural cemetery I was familiar with wasn't identified by name and
there was no cemetery symbol). No contours.
Mainly just the roads. I guess they'll be adding other layers, and
maybe have done so in some states. My sample was in Missouri.
