The International Research Institute for Climate Prediction (IRI)
anticipates hiring a post-doctoral fellow around 1 February 2005.
Responsibilities will include evaluating methods and developing software
tools for forecasting crop yields at field and regional scales based on
long-lead dynamic climate model predictions. Applicants should have a
Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Agrometeorology or a
related field; a strong quantitative background including probability
and statistical methods; and demonstrated understanding of crop
ecophysiology and management, expertise in the use and interpretation of
crop simulation models, competence in numeric programming in a computer
language, and expertise in GIS applications. Desirable qualifications
include experience with analysis and stochastic generation of daily
weather data, and familiarity with dynamic climate models and seasonal
climate forecasting. Candidates should provide a curriculum vita
including an email address, and names, addresses, and telephone numbers
