In your special case, what you want is the simulated soil water balance from the wheat crop as the initial soil water input to the soybean model, as of the soybean sowing date.  This should work.

Thanks Dr. Boote for the information. In the case I have described, the soybean is sown into standing, 20-25 days prior wheat harvest, so the wheat affects the soybean enviroment, but the soybean is too small to have any influence  on the wheat.
