Postdoctoral Fellow - Root modeling

A position is available to research root traits affecting soil water acquisition using the structural functional models SimRoot (a dynamic model of root growth and architecture) and RootSlice (an explicit geometric model of root anatomy). The position is based at the Institute for Plant Sciences at Forschungszentrum Jülich (http://www.fz-juelich.de/ibg/ibg-2/EN/Home/home_node.html) and will be part of a team including other modelers, empirical researchers, and programming support staff, with the overall goal of identifying root traits that can be used to develop more drought-tolerant crops. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in a relevant field, have experience with simulation modeling, and knowledge of plant biology, ideally including plant-soil interactions. English fluency is required, German language skills would be useful but are not essential. Position available immediately. For further information please contact Dr. Jonathan Lynch, Forshungszentrum Jülich, [log in to unmask]
