Fixed Term, 12-month basis, 100% time.
DUTIES: Participate in the Climate Land Interaction Project (CLIP). This
is an interdisciplinary, international project funded by the NSF
Biocomplexity in the Environment Program investigating interactions among
climate, land use, and human systems in East Africa. The crop and
rangeland-climate modeling portion of the project will involve
process-based simulation models to assess the effects of projected climate
change on crop and rangeland productivity across the East Africa
region. The Associate will be responsible for: obtaining relevant data for
input and validation, running the models and analyzing model output,
coordinating with project members working on other aspects of the project,
and reporting the results through conference presentations, written
reports, and peer-reviewed articles. This part of CLIP will be carried out
jointly between MSU, the International Livestock Research Institute and the
University of Edinburgh. The associate will be located at MSU in East

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in climatology, agriculture or a closely related
field is required. Written and oral communication skills, especially
involving technical subjects, are desirable. The following skills will be
required for this work: experience in crop and/or rangeland- climate
modeling, especially using CERES-MAIZE, RANDGEMOD, or other DSSAT
simulation models.
