Roger,
You may want to talk to Fred Royce ([log in to unmask]) at the
University of Florida. He has been working with crop modelers in Cuba for
several years. I know they've made several conference presentations in the
past and I think you may want to meet them. I'm sure Fred can give you
their contact information.
I would also greatly appreciate a copy of your papers. Spanish would be fine.
Thanks!
Andres

>The Third International Congress on Rice Crop was recently held in Havana,
>6 - 10 June 2005. In this meeting I had the pleasure of presenting there
>two papers named "Optimum Sowing Dates for Rainfed Rice Crop" and
>"Integrated Assessment of Climate Change Impact on Rice Production in
>Camagüey, Cuba". They are both published in the Proceedings of this
>meeting, CD-ROM ISSN 959 - 7164 - 91 - 4
>I could be wrong of course, and maybe one of you could correct me on this,
>but as far as I know these works are the first ones ever presented in my
>country that made use of biophysical models to derive conclusions about
>agricultural issues and have been presented in an agricultural congress. I
>could say that they might be a collector item in the future.
>
>I call your attention to this no because they are mine or specially
>useful, but because I understand that this could be a first step toward
>promoting and extending the practice of using biophysical models in
>scientifical issues in my country and the agronomical community. I think
>that this is one of our objectives as a community.
>
>Anyone interested may obtain these works from me in Spanish language. But
>I could do an English translation for someone interested if I'm asked for.
>No compromise at all about this.
>
>With my best wishes to you all,
>
>Roger E. Rivero Vega
