Ron Deal, Landscape Designer, is putting together a Landscape Competition
for FFA students at the Classic Home and Garden Show.
Goal - Public Relations for FFA and connecting more public to the Green
Industry.
The competition will be held on March 3rd in Athens at the Classic Center
during the prime visiting hours of the Home and Garden show.
The contest would involve 3-4 students per chapter.
They would have a specific square footage of area and a certain amount of
time.
The challenge would be to landscape the area with plants.
All plants and materials would be on site for the students to select from
(ex. sod, annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, rocks, step stones, different
mulches)
The students would not actually "plant" the materials. It would be more
like a trade show boot exhibit where they make the plants "look" like they
are planted. They would look at the area, come up with an idea, select and
place the plants and materials where they want them and finish the area
with mulch that would hide the containers and make the area look planted.
Registration slots will be limited - so time of registration will determine
who gets the slots
Registration is now open. To register email me to add your chapter's name
to the list.
Additional details / contest rules and format will be available in
December.
