Dear Teachers,

To make the Agricultural Communication CDE more user-friendly and to
increase participation, the State and Regional Agricultural Communication
CDEs will be restructured. All changes made are within the existing state
regulations.

Regional or Area Ag Communications CDEs will require students to complete a
25 question communication quiz and editing quiz. Please consult your
calendar for Area or Regional Ag Communication CDE dates. You can contact
Blane Marable (North), Ricky Wheeler (Central), or Justin Sealy (South) for
more information. The top two teams from each Area will compete on the state
level.

Georgia’s state Agricultural Communications CDE will be held on Saturday,
March 17th at the FFA / FCCLA Center in Covington, Ga. In year’s past the
event has encompassed a communication quiz, an editing quiz, and individual
practicum areas. The state winning team was then challenged to create a
project proposal that is necessary for national competition. Therefore, this
year students will be required to take a communication quiz, an editing
quiz, and present a project proposal.

The state Ag Communications CDE will not use the individual practicum areas.
The state winning team can then use their time from March to October to work
on the practicum areas and revise the project proposal that they submitted
for state competition.

Each team on the state level will present a proposal and make a presentation
regarding the following topic:

FFA Recruiting and Educational Activities

Potential Topics: Chapter recruitment campaigns; promotion of community or
school-sponsored activities; promotion of chapter educational activities;
alumni recruitment

The project proposals will be due to Ag Communications CDE Superintendent by
March 2, 2007. Please mail proposals to Justin Sealy, ABAC 34, Tifton, GA
31793.

The communication presentation will be conducted in two rounds - preliminary
(2–3 flights) and finals (1 flight). The top team from each preliminary
flight will advance to the final round. Preliminary rounds will be seeded by
proposal scores which are determined by manuscript judges.

Please contact Justin Sealy for more information.

Thanks,
