 Henry R. Neal -LAGRANGE - Mr. Henry R. Neal, 87, of LaGrange passed away
 Monday, May 7, 2007 at Vernon Woods. Mr. Neal was born January 8, 1920 in
 Towns County, son of the late W.C. and Carrie Kimsey Neal. -He attended
 Rabun Gap Nacoochee Junior College before working with the U.S. Department
 of the Interior for two years from 1940 to 1942. He then served in the
 U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. After his military service, Mr.
 Neal studied forestry at the University of Montana. He graduated from the
 University of Georgia in 1948 and received his Masters Degree in 1955 and
 a six-year certificate in 1958 from Auburn University. Mr. Neal started
 teaching Vocational Agriculture in 1948. He was at Cassville High School
 in Bartow County for two years and at Dallas High School in Paulding
 County for four years. Beginning in 1954, he spent the next 29 years at
 Troup High School, retiring in 1984, with 36 years of service teaching
 Vocational Agriculture. Mr. Neal received honors from the Future Farmers
 of America including the Honorary Georgia Planters Degree, Honorary
 American Farmers Degree, Member of the National Vocational Agriculture
 Teachers Association, and in 2001, he was inducted as a charter member of
 the Georgia Agriculture Education Hall of Fame. He also received the
 Leadership Award from the Georgia Association of Retired Educators. In
 2005, at Troup High School's 50th Anniversary Celebration, Mr. Neal, after
 having been retired for 21 years, was chosen number two out of the top ten
 favorite teachers that had taught at the school. He was an active member
 of Western Heights Baptist Church where served as a deacon, Sunday school
 teacher, and a member of the choir. -Survivors include a daughter and
 son-in-law, Nancy and Dr. James Suit of Macon; two sons and
 daughters-in-law, Wesley A. and Mary Neal of Topeka, KS, and Winston R.
 and Sally Neal of Greenville; grandchildren, Neal Suit of Dallas, TX,
 Jonathan Suit of Los Angeles, CA, Parker Suit of Macon, Matthew Neal and
 Anne Neal, both of Topeka, KS, Winston W. Neal of Jacksonville, FL,
 Catherine Suzanne Neal of Atlanta, and Henry Battle Neal of Greenville;
 sister, Faye Bennett of Virginia Beach, VA; special friend, Loretta Hadley
 of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
 two wives, Vilena Parker Neal and Dorothy Duke Neal. -The services for Mr.
 Henry R. Neal will be at 3P.M. Saturday at Western Heights Baptist Church
 with Rev. Greg Brown officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memory
 Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this (Friday)
 evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be
 made in memory of Mr. Neal to Western Heights Baptist Church or a favorite
 charity.
