If you have a kitchen in your Ag Science classroom the Fun with Food
Science Workshop was designed for you.
Its nontraditional agriculture based curriculum that pushes you out of
bounds and helps you find your comfort zone while you are there.
We have 5 slots open - first to register will be the lucky ones to enjoy
hands on training that involves eating wonderful meals too!
Below is the proposed agenda:
Proposed Workshop Agenda
Monday, June 25th: "Coming to the table"
10:00am-4:00pm; Consumer Science Lab Room D-1 in Gordon Street Center in
Jefferson Ga
a. We will be cooking!
b. Lunch will be on-site - eating what we prepare.
c. Coffee lab - roasting coffee beans and more
d. ‘The Future of Food’ video & introduction to Slow Foods Philosophy.
Tuesday, June 26th: "Beyond CSA’s"
Morning (exact time to be determined)
a. Harvest Tour at Full-Moon Coop.
b. Visit UGA Geography roof-top garden.
c. Micro-intensive farming.
Wednesday, June 27th: "Food Labs"
10:00am Jittery Joe’s tour (if able to confirm/schedule…still waiting for
response)
Lunch at Farm255 (All organic restraunt from meat to veggies to wine)
12:30-4:00 – Food Science labs (ALEC classroom - Four Towers UGA campus)
a. Leveners, wild yeast and processed compared.
b. Rice comparison project.
c. Cheese lab
d. Corn or soy lab
