Rowland,

I am using the g95 version from here:

http://ftp.g95.org/

For Windows, I'm using g95 under MinGW: g95-MinGW.exe (near the bottom of the above webpage)

For Linux, there are other links above, depending on your system. Perhaps start with the Linux x86 version: g95-x86-linux.tgz

Kelly,

I am also looking at compiling DSSAT CSM and was wondering about the open source compilers as well. Does the g95 programme you have used feature in this list or is it some other third party code?

Thanks in advance,

Rowland

Homero,

I've had better luck with the g95 compiler rather than gfortran when compiling the DSSAT-CSM.

Likely, you will find many portability problems when trying to compile the DSSAT-CSM 4.0 code with these open-source compilers. I've spent several weeks modifying the code, so it could be compiled with g95. I believe these coding changes will be incorporated in the upcoming DSSAT-CSM 4.5 code.

Dear Kelly,

GNU/Linux platforms are recognized due to their superior stability, security
and robustness. There are plenty of free powerful tools for editing text and
illustration, and flexible scripting languages to automate operations.
Thus, we envisage running the DSSAT-CSM on a GNU/Linux platform as a very
interesting option. Did you compile with gfortran the fortran source codes?
Did you experience major difficulties considering that the program is aimed
primarily for windows systems?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Homero
