Graduate Research Assistantship - The University of Arizona, in
collaboration with USDA-ARS, is seeking a Ph.D. student to develop
assimilation approaches to merge optical remote sensing data into the
simulations of the DSSAT cropping systems model.  Student will
collaborate with a team of graduate students and USDA-ARS scientists on
a NASA-funded project to improve agricultural productivity forecasting
by assimilating soil moisture and leaf area index observations into crop
model simulations. The successful applicant is expected to have
significant programming experience, familiarity with agricultural
cropping systems, demonstrated success in publishing peer-reviewed
journal articles, and prior modeling or remote sensing experience.
Familiarity with Kalman filtering or model optimization techniques is an
added bonus.  The applicant must possess an appropriate science or
engineering degree and an interest in pursuing agricultural research.
The position includes tuition, stipend, and health benefits commensurate
with the applicant's experience.  Applications should include a
