Survey: Sandpiper on brink of extinction

BANGKOK, Thailand — One of the rarest birds in the world is on the brink of extinction, conservationists warned Friday, after a survey found that the population of spoon-billed sandpiper dropped dramatically at a key breeding site in Russia.
