If these are not all gone, I would be interested in receiving what you
have left. I do get requests for 15 min. now and again.
Also, by the way, I was interested in the USGS librarian position. Is
there anything you can tell me about it that would be useful to know?

Folks:
I still receive requests for the old 1:62,500-scale 15 x 15-minute maps
here at the USGS. Why? Because they are excellent to use to compare
changes across the landscape over the past several decades. Their
small
size makes them easy to work with. Most of the 15-minute maps were made
from the 1930s to the 1960s, and by obtaining a newer USGS topographic
map
or an aerial photograph, you can begin wonderful inquiry into how and
why
changes have taken place (or conversely, why so few changes have
occurred). Remember that four 7.5-minute 1:24,000-scale maps make up
the
area of one 15-minute map.
It was my understanding that we were OUT of ALL 15-minute maps.
However,
I recently obtained a list of the 15-minute maps that we still have in
stock here at the USGS product distribution facility here in Denver. I
asked the staff to type up the list because I thought it would be useful
for the education community, and here it is, below.
