The map collection at Brown University (chiefly USGS maps) is open to
the Brown University community. The general public can't walk in off
the street, but can gain entrance to the library (and the map
collection) with a letter of referral from another library. The map
collection is unstaffed.
Maps published before 1946 are housed in the special collections
library (a separate building) and have to be paged by a staff member.
