Hi folks!

Once in a while something happens which does not relate to floods, fire
or theft.
Maybe this has happened to you, but I sure as heck haven't seen this
before in these
parts.

I just got back from a vacation and had a chat with my two library
school students who are
staffing the map collection (future employers take note - they are
exceptional at increasing access, use and marketing...as well as just
pure fun...and they still haven't taken my course :-)

They told me that over the last few weeks (maybe because I have been
away) we have had users from each and every continent. Ok, I am going to
break a rule here and say that Oceania counts and not "just" Australia
:-) And yes, I am certain colleagues at the "top ten" research
collections see this happening all the time (David and April need not
say anything). But this is summer, and it is Halifax (not the biggest
city around, but sure as heck one of the top ten :-).

And before you ask, the last person to visit was...yes..from
Antarctica!!! (from the Research Station).

I just had to let everyone know and to provide a little fun and a quirky
antidote for this more "quiet time" of the year.

Thanks to my staff for getting the message out and some great
marketing......to Antarctica? cool

james
