Interesting snippet from this National Colonization Bill hearing of 1916
http://books.google.com/books?id=_hUoAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA113&dq=wisconsin+eagle+%22farm+colony%22&hl=en&sa=X&ei=0GHkULL7JYKh2QXjhYGwCw&ved=0CDQQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=wisconsin%20eagle%20%22farm%20colony%22&f=false
There appears to me more information on Sanborn and this farm colony in
these books: "An empire in waiting: Northern Wisconsin's Lake Country,
1880-1940" and " Haven in the woods: the story of the Finns in Wisconsin"
The Sanborn Company looks to be the G.F. Sanborn Company. I do not think
they are "related" to the Sanborn Map Co, though. Aha! "G. F. Sanborn,
an Eagle River attorney and realtor." According to the Sherry Family
business papers, 1853-1961. (OCLC#145790100)

Is that "Sanborn Company" certain to be the company we know as having
made maps? Could it be, perhaps, a feed and seed business local to
Eagle River?
Does that map appear similar to other maps published in that part of the
world? Do the various markings match up with any other maps?
Is the term "farm colony" a common one for Wisconsin? Does the image
that appears in the title block originate somewhere else, or is it
unique to that map?
