Greetings -
I took the boat over to the 'disappearing island' behind the inlet this morning, and despite it being high tide, and lots of boaters with kids and dogs romping all over the sandbar, there were quite a few shorebirds this morning. Many were in various forms of alternate plumage, and molting into basic:
Black-bellied Plover - 14
Wilsons Plover - 30+
Semipalmated Plover - 50+
Willet - 30
Greater Yellowlegs - 4
Ruddy Turnstone - 30+
Sanderling - 50+
Red Knot - 1 (unbanded)
Western Sandp - 100+
Semipalmated Sandp - 100+
Least Sandp - 200+
Sb Dowitcher - 6
There were also the regular gulls and terns, including 1 Black Tern.
