Units in use
- Delorme PN-40
- Trimble Juno 3B
- Garmin GPSMAP 60Csx, 62stc, and 76CSx (the Garmin 60/62 series seems
to be the most popular)
- Garmin eTrex Summit HC
- Garmin eTrex Venture HC
- Garmin eTrex (r) 30
- Garmin Oregon 300
Recommendations and Current Practices
- Pre-load them with base maps (e.g. topographic, aerial)
- Separate units for general lending and for faculty lending
(courses/research)
- Additional navigation software can be costly, needs upgrades, and a
possible litigation risk
- Have a loan policy statement/agreement
- Consider buttons vs. touch screens on the units
Check-out times
- 4 hours (overnight after 3pm)
- 14 days
- 7 days
- 3 days
- variable as needed by the patron
