I'd have him get touch with someone on the GISMO or NYCArc User Group
lists to help.

"My cello has been transported on mules, camels, trucks, rowboats,
droshkie, bicycles, gondolas, jeeps, a submarine off Italy, subways,
trams, sleds, junks, and on a stretcher in Amalfi. But by far the most
racking experience of all is when, in full dress, I must transport the
cello in my own hands across the stage each time I have to play."

I have a Masters student in Architecture working on a research project
in New York city (Manhattan) . For his research, he need 2-10ft
contours, buildings footprints, streets/roads layers, and zip codes for
Manhattan. He would prefer these in a dwg format, but could work with
any ESRI formats. If you have any data you can share or any leads on
where we can find data please email me directly.
