By 2015, according to Forrester Research at least 3.3 million white
collar jobs will shift from the US to low-cost countries like China,
India, and Russia. Librarians and information professionals are at risk:
secondary research can now be done offshore.

To turn globalization challenges into opportunities, librarians must
raise their global IQ. Learn about globalization, key cross-cultural
skills, and best practices that can be adopted in any library setting in
the upcoming DSOC CE course, *Global IQ: Cross-Cultural Skills for
Information Professionals*.

The course will be taught by Larisa Brigevich of Franklin Templeton
Investments, and grew out of her paper Doing Library Business in India:
A Success Story <http://www.sla.org/pdfs/2008CP_Brigevich.pdf> (PDF),
which won the 2008 SLA Contributed Papers Award.

The course will be held during the SLA 2009
<http://www.sla.org/content/Events/conference/ac2009/index.cfm>
conference in Washington, DC on Sunday, June 14, from 8am-5pm. To sign
up, purchase ticket #505 when you register for the conference. If you've
already registered, you can purchase a ticket for the course separately.
