Greetings Maps-L,
I received a request from a person doing research on the U.S. Army
442^nd Regimental Command Team during WWII. The researcher is trying to
locate a good copy (digital scans preferred) of NE France topographic
map sheets, in the vicinity of Bruyeres and the region to the east. The
area covers from 48deg336 to 48deg2512 N, and 6deg2838 to
7deg1150 E.
The topo maps he prefers are WWII-era 1:50K-scale from the U.S. Army Map
Service (AMS) and the French surveys that would have been available from
that time period.
Im sorry I cant give any more clues other than the AMS 1:50K series
MIGHT be M761. Three of the four French quads are possibly
Rambervillers, sh.35-17, and St. Die, sh.36-17, Bruyeres, sh.???.
If anyone has these maps and are willing to ILL, copy, or scan them for
this user, please let me know. The copies will be added to an archives
dedicated to the history of the 442^nd RCT and 100th Infantry
Battalion. Thank you very much!
Aloha,
Ross
