Hi Carlos and others interested in snipes. So far I have had suggestions
from four people, you and someone else came up with Wilson's Snipe
G.delicata, one person with African Snipe G.nigripennis and one with Great
Snipe G.media.
Yes, my snipe is dark-backed and has a contrast-rich plumage of a kind I
have never seen in any Common Snipe G.gallinago here. However it also has a
very short tail which is untypical for the species which have been
suggested. So I invite all of you to have another look at:

These features fit with that of Wilson's snipes (Gallinago delicata)
although there are some variation in a few dark-backed Common snipes (G.
gallinago) and the light in these pics is not the best one. The black loral
stripe looks quite broad mainly to the base of the bill what's proper for
Common's, but the tertials pattern with narrower buffish stripes rather than
the wider blackish ones fits much more for Wilson's as Common's mostly have
them proportionally more even.<
