Subject: Fwd: Re: Typo in 1906 edition, 1962 reprint of Blallock Island 30 minute series map

While doing a recon for some early 20th century 1:125,000 scale maps, I noticed that one particular 1906 quad, Blalock Island (which is located in WA State), had it identified as Oregon since the island is located on the Columbia River which borders WA State and Oregon (but the island is located on the WA side of the river.

So, I sent an email to the USGS and following below is the response I got from them. This is such a non-sensical way of doing things. <eye roll>. If they wanted to name the quad after Oregon then the quad should have been named after a feature located in Oregon.

However, I am treating it as a typo and shelving it in the Washington State map cases.
