In /Gems & Gemology/, Fall 2010 issue, 46 (3), is a map supplement, a
chart of 7 maps on one sheet, entitled Major World Gem Producing
Regions. It accompanies the article, “Gem localities of the 2000s”, by
James E. Shigley, et al. The article and map sheet update similar items
published with and in the Winter 2000 issue, 36 (4). The maps show
localities in Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Southern Africa, Madagascar,
Southeast Asia, and South America.

A note following the references, on p. 216, indicates that copies of the
chart can be purchased at the online store, store.gia.edu. However, at
the time of this writing, only the earlier version of the chart is
listed. Perhaps the newer one will be listed soon.

One of our geology faculty studies Mineralogy and Crystallography, with
Gemology being one of his areas of interest.
