A trip to the Ft. Walton Beach Spray Fields, Okaloosa Co., today yielded a good number of shorebirds. The fields are still flooded but are drying up slowly. I had 36 Black-necked Stilts plus several recently hatched young, about 200 Pectoral Sandpipers, Killdeer, Spotted, Solitary (12), Least (16), Semi-palmated (4), Stilt (22) Sandpipers, 7 Short-billed Dowitchers, 45 Lesser and 4 Greater Yellowlegs, 4 Semi-palmated Plovers and a Wilson's Phalarope. Also present were 2 Glossy Ibis and many Little Blue Herons (83), Snowy and Great Egrets plus other herons and egrets.
