Aloha all.
For a graphic index to 15' sheets that were published prior to 1940, see
Map Index to Topographic Quadrangles of the United States, 1882-1940 by
Riley Moffat published by WAML, 1985.

I think the need is for index maps that are spatial, not alphabetical.
Most users can point to the region of interest, but they seldom know the
name of the quad. They are not exactly logical.

The USGS Store website has a list of the 15' topographic maps by state at:
http://store.usgs.gov/b2c_usgs/b2c/display/%28xcm=r3standardpitrex_prd&layout=6_1_61_50_2&uiarea=2&ctype=areaDetails&carea=0000001750%29/.do
You can also download the maps itself via the USGS Store as well on its
maps viewer page at:

I’m trying to find a digital index for the USGS 15’ topo sheets. I’ve
been able to find .shp files for the 7.5, 100, and 250 series, but no
one seems to know where to find something for the 15’ series. Does
anyone have any ideas that I could track down? I certainly don’t want
to recreate something that is already in existence.
Best Regards,
Barbara Carroll, CPG
