I do not subscribe directly to the GeoKatalog. I do see supplements and receive updates periodically as email notifications with a link to PDFs.

Its primary value is in its listings of scientific thematic mapping. If there are subject areas of interest to your users, then this is an invaluable source to learn of these. Occasionally it is also possible to find copies of items published in previous years. In my case, I am interested in vegetation mapping for any areas of the world. I have from time to time found maps from this catalog. Geologic mapping is a very frequent subject, and topographic mapping appears as well. The thematic maps of high quality, however, are much harder to find in many other sources.

I would be interested in the usage level of Geo Katalog 2. It is a
service that our library subscribes to and I receive the supplements.
However I have never had need to use it or have had anyone ask about it
in the six years that I have been here. This may partly be a function
of lack of purchasing power on my part but I would be interested in how
often other subscribers use this source and how many libraries are
subscribed to it.

Thanks,

Becky Lowery
