Technical Bulletin 260, “OCLC-MARC Format Update 2011,” is now available
at http://www.oclc.org/support/documentation/worldcat/tb/260/default.htm.

This Technical Bulletin covers all of the Library of Congress’s MARC 21
Bibliographic, Authority, and Holdings Formats Update No. 12, dated
October 2010, elements from other recent MARC 21 Updates whose
implementations had been postponed, code list additions and changes
published chiefly since May 2010, and other suggestions from WorldCat
users and OCLC staff. Many of these elements, including those from MARC
21 Update No. 12, are related to Resource Description and Access (RDA).

Implementations of the OCLC-MARC updates covered in the Technical
Bulletin may occur in stages, which OCLC will announce via logon
Messages of the Day, Connexion News, and the OCLC-CAT listserv. It is
recommended that users not begin to use the new capabilities, fields and
subfields, indicators, practices, and codes until OCLC announces that
they may be used.

Documentation affected

This technical bulletin affects the following OCLC documentation:
Authorities: Formats and Indexes, Bibliographic Formats and Standards,
