International Student Life events
=================================
1.  Coffee Hour.  October 3, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm, Memorial Hall Ballroom.
This week's Coffee Hour is sponsored by Thai Student Association and the
Malaysian Student Association.  Coffee will be provided by Blue Sky. Come
out and enjoy meeting other people.  As with all Coffee Hours, there is no
charge!

2. Pakistani Support Dinner.  September 30, 2003, 7:00 pm, Tate Student
Center, Georgia Hall.  The Pakistani Student Association (PSA) will host a
dinner with authentic Pakistani cuisine to help benefit the reconstruction
efforts of the Mosque in Savannah that was burned down.  PSA is asking for a
donation of $5.00 that will go towards the reconstruction of the Mosque.

3.  International Week Committee Planning Meeting.  September 30, 2003,
5:00 - 6:00, ISL Lounge (210 Memorial).  If you are interested in helping to
plan the events for International Education Week Nov. 17 - 21, we invite you
to come to this meeting.

4.  Tax Volunteer. If you would like to help international students complete
their tax forms for the 2004 tax season, please come to an interest meeting
THIS Thursday, October 2, 2003, in the ISL lounge (210 Memorial) at 5:31 pm.

5.  If you are a December 2003 Graduate, you are invited to participate in
the International Student Life Graduation Ceremony.  The Ceremony will be
held on Friday, December 19, 2003 at 3:00 p.m.  Participation in the
ceremony is free.  Call the ISL office at 542-5867 to sign up.

6.  We need your help!  The Global Friends Peer Mentor program is organizing
the purchase of a tree and materials for the holiday tree trimmings for
International Student Life, UGA.  The tree will be displayed during the
Festival of Trees in Atlanta at the World Congress Center from December
6th - 14th, 2003.   The tree will be auctioned and the proceeds will go to
benefit the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.  Help us purchase and design a
tree worthy of UGA!  All donations will be appreciated.  Donations are
collected during Coffee Hour every Friday in the Memorial Hall Ballroom --
look for the glass fishbowl.  Contributions of your own hand-made ornaments
or other support will be also be accepted in the ISL office located at 210
Memorial Hall. If you are interested in designing an ornament for your
country, call the ISL Office at 542-5867 to be added to the list to design
an ornament.

1. October 1, 2003, at 5 PM on the Tate Plaza there will be a Yard
Show -"step exhibition" showcasing the members and chapters of NPHC in an
effort to showcase the social image of NPHC through the art of stepping. For

2. October 3, 10:00 pm Dawgs After Dark. Sponsored by the University Union.
FREE with UGACard, $5 for non-students. At the Ramsey Center with the bungee
trampoline, triple bungee run, laser plex and much more. 10:00 PM. Ramsey
Center. Contact: 542-6396.




Other Events

1.  HARVEST FESTIVAL The annual Harvest Festival is an "intergenerational
celebration" of history, agriculture and arts and crafts from days gone by.
See old-fashioned chair caning, corn husk doll making, soap making,
spinning, quilting, weaving and much more! Farm animals and antique farming
equipment will be on display. Activities are scheduled at the Lyndon House
Arts Center and Athens Community Council on Aging (135 Hoyt St.) on Friday,
Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. FREE! Horse-drawn carriages will shuttle
visitors between the two sites. 613-3625.
