While Checking the Migration out on Pine Island Today, We had a single Lesser Golden Plover Fly almost overhead at less than 100 feet Elevation. The bird was in Basic Plumage, slightly Golden Hue on back, with light Axillaries in constant view. It was calling loudly and frequently, and circled back over our site twice, before finally resuming a leisurely Southward movement. These actions suggested that the bird was seeking others, either in a flock or as singles, that it had become separated from.
Additional Shorebirds were Meager:
2 Willet
2 Semipalmated Plover
12 Short-Billed Dowitcher
2 Spotted Sandpiper
2 Pectoral Sandpiper
2 Lesser Yellowlegs
3 Killdeer
