The *Society for the History of Discoveries* has posted additional
information of its 53rd Annual Meeting to be held September 27-30, 2012,
in Pasadena and San Marino, California, USA. Non-members are welcome to
attend the several days of events and meetings. See

The web site also has early information and an itinerary for the
post-conference optional excursion to the Page Museum at the famous Le

At the meeting website

activity information, hotel and transportation details. As the CALL FOR
PAPERS

closed just a few days ago, the program schedule with speakers and
topics will be posted later, and that will be announced to this list, as
will hotel reservation and meeting registration information as soon as
those details are available. Please check the meeting site at the top of
this message for meeting updates in the coming weeks.

The *Society for the History of Discoveries* was formed to stimulate
interest in teaching, research, and publishing the history of
geographical exploration. Founded in 1960, the Society includes members
from several academic disciplines as well as archivist, non-affiliated
scholars, and lay person with an interest in history. The scope of the
Society's activities encompass the discovery, exploration, and mapping
of the earth's land and sea surface from earliest times to the present-
the explorers and the explored. Fields of specialization thus include
the history of European expansion, cartography, navigation, colonial
