Iinternational Student Life Office Events

1. ISL would like to thank everyone for helping to make our 5th annual
International Street Festival the wonderful success that it was. Thank
you to all of the sponsors, your contributions made it possible;
participants, you were all wonderful; volunteers, this Festival would
not have happened without you; and those of you who attended the
festival, you made all the work and effort worth while! Special thanks
to Dr. Richard Mullendore, Dr. Tom Burke, Dr. Jim Day, Dr. Patricia
Daugherty, Tommy Altman, Joslyn Diramio, Tammy Lyskowinski, Sandy
Haagen, and other UGA staff for taking time out of your busy schedules
to come out in support of this event. Your presence at the Festival
meant a lot all of us. Also, special kudos to Ric Wallace and the
Student Activities Tech Crew for their outstanding work on Saturday. We
hope that in some way everyone that attended the event came away with
new knowledge, appreciation, and ideas. Again, thank you all, We look
forward to bring our 6th Street Festival next year!

2. This is the last week that ISL will be helping with international
taxes. We urge you to take advantage of this week! If you still need
to file taxes and have not set up an appointment, we strongly recommend
that you plan to use the online tax assistance software to fill out your
Federal Form to allow us more time to help more people with their state
forms. After completing the federal forms on-line, contact the ISL
office for assistance with your state form.

File on-line from HOME or anywhere in the world via NRA-Ware (a tax
software program purchased for UGA usage by ISL and the Office of
International Affairs.) Pick up a form from the International Student
Life Office located at 210 Memorial Hall for instructions and passwords.

3. Currently, ISL is looking for approximately 25 UGA students to
volunteer as our 2003 international orientation leaders (also known as
World Leaders).

If you or any of your friends are interested in finding out more about
being a World Leader and the events planned for international
orientation, please plan to attend a short interest meeting on
Wednesday, April 9 at 5 pm in the ISL lounge (210 Memorial Hall). Call
ISL at 542-5867 if you have any questions.

3. The Korean Traditional Play Association, the group who performed the
awesome Korean drumming during the Street Festival, will be hosting this
week's Coffee Hour, Friday, April 11, 2003, 11:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. in
the Memorial Hall Ballroom. Come out and enjoy Korean culture and food,
coffee and lemonade. As with most ISL events, it is free. Contact ISL
at 542-5867 for additional information.

4. GRADUATION! International Student Life is hosting a FREE graduation
ceremony for our international student graduates on Friday, May 9, at 3
pm in the Memorial Hall Ballroom. Graduating students should call ISL
at 542-5867 to sign-up for the ceremony. Help us celebrate your special
weekend and all of your accomplishments by signing up.

5. Still in a festive mood? Celebrate with the Caribbean Student
Association as they host an Ethnic Night, a night of Caribbean food,
music and culture. Thursday, April 17, 2003 from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
in Georgia Hall.

6. It's time once again to start planning for the Fall 2003
International Student Orientation (Archway to UGA). We have an exciting
week of events planned for the new students from August 4 - August 8,
2003. Please mark your calendars and let ISL know if you are interested
in helping volunteer to welcome the new international students.
