Julie
May I suggest you (or, rather, the collector) try one of the web pages
on Tony Campbell's 'Map History' gateway site - specifically
http://www.maphistory.info/imageasia.html?
Although under the 'images' [on the web] page, the URLs listed
occasionally reveal that at least one "strong collection" has, in fact,
had its maps scanned for all to view remotely. This images page menu
sub-divides Asia into regions: under 'Southwest Asia', alphabetically,
there are maybe a dozen sites listed under 'Holy Land'. This dozen of
the Holy Land includes one site with "(about 1,100 enlargeable high res.
MrSID images from the 15th century onwards . . . [in the] Jewish
National & University Library, Eran Laor Collection . . .)"

Curator of Maps, RGS-IBG)

Hi, all,
Can anyone identify for me libraries/archives/museums that have strong
collections of Holy Land maps? I was contacted by a collector wishing
to sell a map to one such organization rather than put it up for sale at
an auction or through a dealer. This is outside my area of expertise.
Thanks,
