What a great idea! I would think however that you might have to have a
way for people to buy tokens with a card because so few people actually
carry coins anymore. What about one of those systems that there is a
central pay station (e.g.
http://www.smartecarte.com/bar-code-locker-access)? I've used those in
places like Disneyland for a fee and in a number of shopping centers in
China where sometimes there was a fee and sometimes complimentary. The
nice thing is that you can open and close it throughout the day without
needing another coin, and can be released for use whenever a patron is
done. One of these systems could even be used to allow a patron to
purchase a monthly pass without dedicating any specific locker to them
or taking it out of use on days they don't come etc.
I notice they have a lease program for "venues that may not sustain the
foot traffic necessary to support a concession, or for those that would
like to provide lockers to their customers on a complimentary basis or
as part of a membership."
Forgive me for thinking aloud here, but I'd be interested to hear about
any experiences about lockers for patrons.
Mark
