The Southern California Environment and History Conference Planning
Group is organizing its second conference:
NATURE'S WORKSHOP
Environmental Change in
Twentieth Century Southern California
California State University, Northridge
September 18-20, 1997
The Nature's Workshop conference will bring together an interdis-
ciplinary group of researchers and archivists to discuss and devel-
op current understanding of Southern California's environmental and
historical landscape. This second annual conference will focus on
Southern California in the twentieth century, a period of massive
transformations of natural systems through modern urban and indus-
trial growth.
If your research or archival collection relates to the 1997 confer-
ence theme, and you'd like it to be considered for presentation in
this program, please submit three (3) copies of your abstract or a
description of your collection, together with a brief _curriculum
vitae_ (including your name, address, telephone number, and fax or
e-mail address). Complete panels or sessions are encouraged, in ad-
dition to individual presentations. Acceptance or rejection of pro-
posed presentations or panels will be determined by the SCEHC Pro-
gram Committee, and applicants will be notified by mail.
Please mail submissions (including a SASE), no later than May 20 to:
